Canadian Thanksgiving in the FCEV

HTEC engineer Owen Owens took the Hyundai Tucson FCEV on the ferry to Vancouver Island for the Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend.
Team Owens were off to a sunny start on Saturday. While waiting in the ferry lineup, Owen’s little girl had time to paint a fish as part of the Stream of Dreams ‘Fish on Fences’ Eco-education program. The initiative is designed to create community art at the same time as educate people about local watersheds and encourage water conservation.
Unfortunately, Saturday's good weather didn’t last. By Sunday, water conservation wasn’t really on anyone’s mind as Mother Nature actively did her part to replenish the southern British Columbia watershed. The weekend turned into a quintessential We(s)t Coast experience—a lot of wind, rain, and damp.
Owen and family called it a washout and came home early. But they made it there and back, with a few trips around Comox, on a tank of hydrogen. Once the Victoria station is open as part of the six-station network HTEC is building in southern BC, they’ll be able to look for sunshine further afield.
