Hyundai to Invest US$6.75B in Fuel Cell Technology by 2030

Big news out of Seoul yesterday, with Hyundai revealing its long-term roadmap for fuel cell technology--Fuel Cell Vision 2030-- and reaffirming its commitment to the development of a hydrogen society. And it's not just about Hyundai's light-duty automotive program. The roadmap also outlines plans for the company to supply fuel cell systems to manufacturers of automobiles, drones, vessels, rolling stocks, forklifts and power generators. Hyundai aims to produce 700,000 fuel cell systems annually by 2030 including 500,000 units for FCEVs.

Provincial Government Announces a Zero-emission Vehicle (ZEV) Mandate for BC

On November 20, 2018, the BC Government announced plans for a ZEV mandate for British Columbia. The legislation will rollout next year, with planned ZEV sales targets of 10% by 2025, 30% by 2030, and 100% by 2040. Part of the plan for BC's ZEV standard includes incentives for hydrogen FCEVs and infrastructure. VANCOUVER, June 15, 2018 – HTEC (Hydrogen Technology & Energy Corporation) today opened Canada’s first retail hydrogen refuelling station in partnership with Shell. The station—at 8686 Granville Street in Vancouver—is the first in a six-station network HTEC is building in Greater Vancouver and Victoria. This network will enable the deployment of the first 1,000 zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) in British Columbia (BC), and HTEC will partner with Shell on three of the six stations.
