HTEC at GLOBE 2020 to Talk Hydrogen

February 10, 2020

The GLOBE Series is in Vancouver, February 10 – 13. HTEC will be there to talk about how we’re fueling the drive to hydrogen to combat climate change.

When 1,900 people from around the world—including 800 senior decision-makers from across the public and private sector—are in town to talk about climate crisis, sustainability, and energy transformation, we make sure HTEC—and hydrogen—is part of the discussion.

Hydrogen: Fostering the Energy Transition

With growing global demand to decarbonize the energy we use for transportation, industry, homes, and workplaces, hydrogen is a critical part of the solution. The Hydrogen Council—a global initiative of leading energy, transport, and industry companies that share the belief hydrogen will foster the energy transition—have publicly stated their 2050 vision that hydrogen will:

  • Meet 18% of global energy demand

  • Reduce annual CO2 emissions by roughly six gigatons compared to today’s levels

  • Develop US$2.5 trillion of business

  • Create more than 30 million jobs

2030: Hydrogen Electric Transportation Targets

Just ten years from now, the Council’s global transportation goals are for 10,000 hydrogen stations and 10 million vehicles. California’s 2030 goals are 1,000 stations and one million vehicles. HTEC’s estimates for Canada are 200 stations with the required production and distribution infrastructure in place by 2030 to support more than 100,000 vehicles on roads across the country.

HTEC’s Current Projects

Globe 2020 organizers describe the summit’s laser focus on impact, action, and outcomes in response to the climate crisis. HTEC is proud of the active role we’re playing in the decarbonization of the transportation sector today and the groundwork we’re laying to help meet the goals of tomorrow. We have several infrastructure and technology platform activities underway in Canada and the United States:

British Columbia

  • Retail Station Network (two open (Vancouver and Burnaby) and five in construction/development)

  • 2,000 kg/day Production Facility

Quebec

  • Retail Station Network (one open, five in development)

Alberta

  • Heavy-duty Vehicle Fueling Solution (for two Class 8 HD trucks)

California

  • Retail Station with an electrolyzer

  • Fueling solution for two hydrogen fuel cell yard trucks at the Port of LA/GTI

  • Design/build of a fully mobile fueling station (55ft trailer) with Air Liquide
